I'm getting the impression lately I'm talking to my mother and myself. And sometimes Sherwood Smith (who rocks, though not for that reason).

This leads to a vicious circle where I post less, and less of interest, which usually causes people to stop paying attention, which means I post less...

Can you guys shout out here if you're actually bothering to read? or if there's something I should talk about?

I really only made this to read my other friends stuff cus she doesn't crosspost. It seemed like other people were moving over here too though but I don't know who or where they went now 0.o

Which, since I tend to do the same to your journal, is only fair. (Although I read at DW. You have been still crossposting everything? I ask because your posts seem scarcer than usual.)

Thanks.

Hug!

Funny question, but did my last post (Chris Redux) appear for you? I ask because it seemed at first not to quite convert the friends-lock from Dreamwidth to LJ right. I switched it to public, since, but I wondered.

Thanks. I have to admit, I admire your journal for how much you consider and analyze what to do for your kids to make them the best they can be - I keep thinking I'm going to be running back to reread if/when I have my own.

Thanks, I appreciate that! I'll try to remember to comment more often; sometimes I get lazy and do nothing but read.

To be fair, so do I...

I think this was as much as anything me having a vulnerable moment coincide with a few posts disappear into the aether (And a few notifications LJ didn't give me)

It's hard sometimes. I know I look forward to reading yours, even when they're short and mostly linky.

I admit, too, that while I don't always say things worth feedback, it can seem pointless to get no responses at all.

No energy I understand. I know there are times I read through the flist and don't feel ready to reply to anyone. Adn I don't have any real obvious energy sinks.

Not going :( I miss it! I have so many other commitments and so few of them take me anywhere near there haha. I'm sure I'll be back in the spring with the return of this "Free Time" I have heard about.

Free time... that would be that thing I should have too much of while I'm not working.

But there are still not enough hours in the day sometimes.

I used to shoot bows, but later switched to firearms. I mostly shot paper growing up, and in the last 10 years I've gone to strictly target shooting. The outfit and bow bow looks awesome. I think I like that much better than the modern looking compound bows.

We're in the local SCA together where I live now MG, the other fellow you 'borrowed' from me is from where I moved from a couple years ago. Lenora is one of my best friends where I am now.

Lenora -^ this is an old online friend of mine (from when I was 15!)

I noticed that the only friend we had in common was you - but since it was you now, not previous you, I also guessed this was a safe contact.

I've tried shooting one firearm - a smoothbore musket. Overall, I'd be willing to try again, and with more modern gear, but I'd want someone who was familiar with the local rules etc. to guide me if I did, and spare time is strangely scarce.

The outfit is a Kameez, fairly traditional Indian tunic, over a skirt you can't see.

I have one black powder firearm. A replica of a Philadelphia derringer that I assembled and finished. I have only fired it twice because it is such a hassle to clean properly.

I just returned from the firing range where I had been target shooting with some friends. I didn't do very well against them. Either I am a rather poor shooter, or they are just a lot better at it than I am. They were using lighter 9mm caliber pistols though while I was using one of my 45's. We were shooting steel silhouette targets for accuracy and speed. I was accurate, but my speed sucketh mightily due to the heavier recoil.

I love the colors of your Kameez. Is it silk?

The picture is of me at the Texas Renfaire. Most of my rengarb is made by Lady Dra (House of Dra). 100% cotton, light, cool and very durable. I see a lot of people who make a living doing renfaires wearing her brand. She tailored the eastern European Yankl shirt and Gorky baggy pants. Most of it is tastefully embroidered. (Which makes me a rarity among really traditional renfaire people because it would be more of a middle class type in an era where the middle class was almost non-existent) Most of my leathergoods are either Pendragon or Tigger.

I am - I sort of go back and reread posts and comment when I have time, which at the moment isn't super often. I do read, though. I just don't always have time for thought-out comments, and if I can't make those, well, why bother, right? >_>;

From: [identity profile] lenora-rose.livejournal.com
Yeah. I know I noticed Sartorias' habit of leaving a quick comment, even if it wasn't much more than well-wishing or agreement, was one way of getting around the not having time to comment for real, adn I appreciate it, but there are times even that seems insufficient.

Er rephrase since i said that last bit wrong. There are times that there's insufficient time/energy even to do that.

Of course you count.

I used to wonder why you so often put an obviously really quick comment on entries, or even on comments - then I realised it was for just this reason, to let the person know they were read, even if there wasn't more to say, and I decided that it was actually considerably more courteous than many of the alternate ways people handle journals.

yeah--unfortunately I have a huge list, I don't want to drop anybody . . . sometimes if there are already a ton of comments I just pass on by, but if there aren't any, I figure, leaving at least a sign that somebody read the post is better than silence. (at least, this is how I feel when something I post appears to go unnoticed.)

From: [identity profile] lenora-rose.livejournal.com
I tend to be slow to friend even people whose comments on other journals I really like. Partly because of how quickly the list turns unwieldy.

(The other reason is how hard it could become to recall who I know from where, or why they were friended. I know there are things you can use as keywords to remind you, but even with that...)

I know that's not the sort of thing to be of interest to everyone - especially in these pre-publication or very-few-publications years. Because I'm not talking about something you can anticipate going out and reading for real. Yet.
