I swore I'd start keeping daily progress notes in August, because I mean to finish this puppy by the 31st, and for some reason, progress notes keep me on track. (Also, because until this last week, I was still doing one final revision wave before getting back to the climax - there was a reason besides whim for it, but it does mean the months' progress has included only one scene's worth of new words. So, to start a day early. I borrowed a lot of the categories from other writers.
Progress notes for July 31, 2006:
Raising the Storm
Can't stop fidgeting: Cut two scenes in half and interleaved them.
New Words: Roughly 370
Reason for stopping: It's late.
Tea: Cold milk with Dooley's and cinnamon. (Even when my study's cold, it's hard to bring myself to make hot tea in the boiling kitchen.)
Mean Things: Storms of apocalyptic proportions, a vicious ghost attempting to eat the main character. The intended summary execution was already in place and doesn't count.
The Glamour!: I got bit by a spider in an embarrassing spot. Ow.
Inevitable asides: There's a candle that's been sitting in the living room through the heat wave. It was a tall thin candle. It is now a nice little arc, and the wick is pointing straight down and resting against the base.
