Date: 2010-12-24 04:10 am (UTC)Jon Boden is a fabulous musician all around, though his solo work is nothing like you'd expect from this. I like the whole 'a folk song a day' project - several individual tracks have been 'meh', especially as he has to, for obvious reasons, use pretty stripped down versions of a lot of songs, and only a few have been in harmony. But with 365 songs (once he's finished), there are always going to be gems. And the idea of encouraging people to learn these songs and increase the amount of social singing they do, I can't help but think is a positive one.
(Also, driving the original Rudolph tune away with shape-note singing renditions sounds like it might improve the malls at this time of year)
