As I remarked on Facebook earlier (Along with a comment about it being rather odd to see a baby in traction*), I am actually considering, for the first time ever, doing NaNoWriMo.

I never really needed to before, but I think at this point the glacial pace of my writing habit might need extreme measures. I mean, at least I did write some since my last gripe, but barely.

November seems like a bad pick since it includes my son's birthday and at least three concerts I would like to go to. (At least two I WILL - one, Nathan Rogers Sings Stan Rogers, we already have tickets for, because Colin wanted to see him last time and doesn't do folk fest, so missed that.)

But I think there's an obvious and straightforward counter-cure that will more than make up for that.

For the duration I would ask if Colin could disable the internet to my computer entirely. I would only be allowed to check e-mail or the like on his creaky old laptop, which I don't like working on for any length of time, and which has moved downstairs. Also, avoid Facebook entirely for the month barring direct messages to my e-mail and invites specific to JoJo's birthday. Facebook went from useful for invites and photos and emergency contact but otherwise barely a factor to far too much of a time sink (and I refuse to play games of any kind on it).

I think right now, if I do, I'd work on Labyrinth, which I am pretty sure needs at least 50K words. (I'd obviously only count new words).

It's only a thought but it's starting to feel like a good one.

* True thing, daughter of a friend of mine JoJO and I visited in hospital. It's therapy, not a horrible accident, she's too young to move around much so rather content, though she kicked her legs a fair bit when they were let loose briefly. But it still looks very odd to see the legs trapped straight up in the air.
