I think that the whopping 3.1k words words that are all I've written since Oct 22, trying to work out this last scene - I think they're virtually all part of the iceberg. The stuff I need to know people say, or shout, at each other to figure out how to settle this. But don't need to put on the page. At ALL.
Which is not entirely suck, because now I have an idea what I do need these people to say to each other on screen, but ... well, it feels like a WASTE. That's two weeks of effort down.
Although Anna, bless her, had a brainwave about active versus passive that finally explained what seemed to ME to be a complete contradiction in the rules of Finno's magic (I knew it was so, and that there was some reason, but I couldn't have said what). Nice to know some part of my brain finally wanted to give me the answer.
And I have a cold. Bleargh. (Nowhere near serious enough for flu, much less H1N1. One of my coworkers - the one I'm pretty sure gave me this - actually claims she could barely tell it from my fall allergies. There's some truth to this in the last month, but from the *inside*, it's not just by the cough I can tell this from allergies.)
