For the two people who might care at all. I was lazy and used youtube mainly. (If only because searching anywhere else yielded surprisingly poor results)

1) I went out late one evening, moon was shining bright/Somewhere off into the distance burned a neon light. Ollabelle - Dream the Fall

Dream the Fall is a kind of apocalyptic vision. It's also not on youtube or on their myspace page. So instead, you get what's probably my favourite of all their songs: Blue Northern Lights and another sample, just 'cause. Before this Time

2) Where the road is dark, /and the seed is sowed / where the gun is cocked /and the bullet's cold Bruce Springsteen, Further on Up the Road

3) We fell down, we went blind/ we built a jail inside our minds/I have no song at all to break a prison wall Oysterband - Jail Song Two

Again, the actual song (Which is off a more obsucre album) isn't anywhere to hear, but they have a nice set of samples at their dreaded myspace page, which I've been known to let run in the background while I'm working on stuff.

4) On either side the river lie/long fields of barley and of rye/that clothe the wold and meet the sky Loreena McKennitt - The Lady of Shalott

5) Well met, well met said an old true love/well met, well met said he/I've just returned from the salt salt sea/and it's all for the love of thee. Mr. Fox - The House Carpenter

As I mentioned, I also have versions by California folk-rockers Tempest, Minneapolis folk-world-rockers Boiled in Lead (Two of them), and a dreadful drawled one by the Handsome Family on the Oysterband Big Session CD.

6) As I was a walking one morning in May/I saw a pretty fair maid and unto her did say/Oh my darling I'm inclined/I'll tell to you me mind, me inclination lies in (Title of song)
Jim Moray (With the Oysterband Big Session)- The Cuckoo's Nest

Youtube hasn't got Jim doing the song, but it has a decent rendition by Ashley Hutchings and a number of other big British folk names. Jim and Oysterband go mroe electronic and high energy, but it's still a shockingly clean dirty song. And at myspace, there's a fair sampling of Jim's own stuff

7) He took four hundred thousand men/likewise some kings to swell his throng/he was so well provided/enough to sweep the world along Maddy Prior - With Napoleon in Russia: Scorched earth

Again, none of that, but ehre's a couple of her other songs Sheath and Knife / Bewcastle(THe audio falls apart towards the end of Sheath and Knife, but recovers for Bewcastle)

8) They bind his eyes with a silken scarf/in his ear, a friend explains/"The one you catch is the one you kiss."/How we all love party games! June Tabor - Blind Step Away Song by Richard Thompson.

June Tabor, like Maddy prior, is pretty much one of the Divas of the British folk scene. She's also very inclined to cover Richard Thompson tracks.
SO:
Here's June alone, in a song people at Gimli or WW may remember me singing
Here's another June/Richard Thompson combo
And Richard.

9) Hey little (Title of song) tell me where you're going/the twilight hours are long over and the winter winds are blowing/do you have a secret that keeps you set apart/or are you just a victim of someone's hardened heart? Heather Alexander - Ragged man

Again, song itself not on Youtube (Though there's all the footage form one concert available) This is her best known track:March of Cambreadth (Apologies for chesy breaveheart vid, but it was better than the cheesier alternate I found first, and I wasn't polanning on digging through dozens of fanvids.)

10) Last night when I saw him last night last week / when I saw my lover with a flush in his cheek... Eliza Carthy - Train Song (There's a partial excerpt here with much better soundSt. George's day Concert)

11) Monday finds you like a bomb / that's been left ticking there too long/ you're bleeding Eurythmics - I Saved the World Today

12) All hands on deck/ please don't panic/It's probably a drill,/ there's really nothing wrong/Steady as she goes/On the Titanic Lennie Gallant - The Band's Still playing

(The quality's not dreadful for a random live sample, but Lennie Deserves better. Also, he loaded some of his own videos, and I should encourage legality: Lifeline, Peter's Dream

13) Take everything / that you gave when things were nice / Fake everything / if it makes you feel all right Ruthie Foster - 'Cuz I'm here

She also deserved another sample, especially as she's an extra powerhouse when live:Harder than the Fall, People Grinnin' in your face

14) On rides a captain and three hundred soldier lads/out of the morning mist and through the silent snow Silly Sisters - Blood and Gold/Mohacs Aka, Maddy Prior and June Tabor.

15) A little blood and vomit on the car seat / and a tooth is sitting in my lap Sarah Slean - Pilgrim

(For this song, I prefer this live version to the studio one, but, in spite of the dreadful video, I prefer the wild studio version of Lucky Me, the other song I cited.

16) I think of your room / I think of you there/I think of you dragging /your body upstairs Blackie and the Rodeo Kings - as Lonely as You

Lacking the right song, here's another; Stoned

17) Princess of lust/ Dignity put to dust/a virginal sight/ Their apple to bite Nightwish - Passion and the Opera

18) I came to the place where the (title redacted) lay / and pensively stood by his tomb/ When in a low whisper/ I heard something say/how sweetly I sleep here alone. Crooked Still - Lone Pilgrim

Again, no direct vid. But here's a taste: Ain't No Grave

19) I come in on the night train/ With an arm full of box cars / The wings of a magpie / 'cross the hooligan night Tom Waits - Whistlin' Past the Graveyard (WARNING: Video is exceptionally annoying as hell to look at; do what I do and listen while reading another page.)

20) So/So you think you can tell/Heaven from Hell/ Blue skies from pain
Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd. Per Mom, with a probable nod to Vilashna on band name.

(This song should surely be known to all)

Bonus tracks (If you can't get the song or artist, you'll still get a credit if you name the languages...)

1) Kuljin kujia katselin taloja talon tapoja /Kuljin kujia katselin taloja talon tapoja / astuin tupahan täytehen talohonn vierahassen/ astuin tupahan täytehen talohonn vierahassen Värttinä - Kylän kävijä (give this vid extra time to load)

Another Värttinä Mieleni Alenevi (You don't have to raise the volume as much as you think. It starts quiet.)

2) Inte krusar jag för du är nätt och grann / får jag inte dig så tar väl jag en ann' Hedningarna - Kruspolska (There's a live version where the info onthe side includes a translation of the lyrics, but the sound is dreadful)

3) Il faut (Title redacted, yes, even in other languages) / changer de paysage / le pied sur un herberge / vierge. Anjelique Kidjo - Tourner la Page

That one's not available, but a number of others are: Agolo, Voodoo CHild Adouma and most of this concert in Benin. I discovered her, quite literally, by walking into a used music store when they were playing her "best of". I bought it out of the player - the girl behind the counter admitted she wouldn't have let me if she didn't have a copy at home. I now have three of her cds and want the other two I know about.

4) (Actual first line is song title, so redacted)/venientes perrexerunt/velut cum gaudio celestis paradisi/suscepte sunt Garmarna (And Hildegard Von Bingen) - Unde Quocumque (The video is as bad a mismatch as ever I've seen... not terrible, just it looks like someone's home video of a puppy?)

5) yondeiru muneno dokoka okude / itsumo kokoro odoru yume wo mitai Joe Hisaishi - Itsumo Nando Demo (Always With me) - From Spirited Away Sorry, but I don't have the singer's name ready to hand.
