Mom just returned me a pair of CDs and a VHS tape that one of her coworkers borrowed. To which Colin said, "Yeah, like you needed the tape back anytime soon."
He's right. We currently have two not-really-working VCRs. (One was only making odd clicking noises while playing, and if I'm desperate, and can find the converter cord I'm missing, I could link it up in my study and see if it will fix itself - sometimes, when you really want to see a movie, you'll put up with amazing things.)
However, besides that, between him and me, I've replaced a lot of my old VHS tapes with DVD copies. So, free to anyone who asks and does have a VCR (Even, note, if they're currently in Alberta and would have to wait until Christmas.), are the following tapes:
The Secret of Roan Inish (One of my favourite movies ever.)
Ladyhawke
Jim Henson's Storyteller - two tapes of two eps each.
Best of the Muppet Show: Mark Hamill, Paul Simon, Raquel Welch
Best of the Muppet Show: Peter Sellers, John Cleese, Dudley Moore
Ever After
The Princess Bride
Kiki's Delivery Service - Subtitled version.
The Secret Garden - 1993 version
The Muppet Movie
The Last Unicorn
Black Adder II part 2 (Money, Beer, Chains)
Legend
Titan AE
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Dogma
Clerks (Not in its own case)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
The Lion in Winter
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Galaxy Quest
Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers, extended edition.
ADDED:
Shadowlands
Good Will Hunting
Gods and Monsters
American Beauty
Wings of Desire
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
Lilies
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
The Little Mermaid
Some of these movies slightly embarrass me to own (Okay. Legend Does. Especially buying it in both formats. It's not like I didn't know.)
Tapes being as they are (Things where sound and video both deteriorate even when left alone), I can't perfectly guarantee quality, but all of them played for me the last time I tried.
Strictly speaking, i could probably offer up the whole lot of my tapes the same way; I mean, with no working VCR, aren't they mostly taking up shelf space? But then again, I have, when particularly craving certain movies, gone to a friend's with them, or had a friend bring a VCR.
ETA: The movies added are ones I don't own a new copy of, but feel that realistically, I am unlikely to want to watch again so badly I'll borrow a VCR to do it.
