Shopping (Or not!) woes
Apr. 30th, 2009 10:52 pmSeriously. I'm currently almost broke, have an urgent need for certain art supplies I can't find, and have three birthdays due or overdue of major family members.
So Nightwish deciding to contradict my comment that "While Your Lips Are Still Red" isn't on any album *Right Now*? is not something I need. Thankfully, the Rest of Live in Hong Kong isn't terribly tempting; live versions of songs exclusively from Dark Passion Play, and a couple of other bonus studio tracks. I guess they're trying not to compete with their last huge live release, End of an Era, that covered everything Pre-DPP very well, but it still looks like rather an abbreviated CD, even accounting for the sheer length of Poet and the Pendulum. Granted, 11 all-new songs wouldn't look that way to me, but for a live album that's not only known material, but hyperfocused, it is brief.
Also, McNally at Polo Park has a copy of Blackmore's Night's Secret Voyage. However, both McNally's have been being surprisingly good at having their stuff, so, though that album is high on my want list, I can hold off.
In good news, while I failed at finding china paints (yet), I did find two worthwhile pairs of very cheap shoes. This is good news because until then, I had:
- One pair of broken-down runners
- one pair of ugly leather shoes covered in clay dust and other pottery detritus, with a large split in one side
- One pair of previously lovely and comfortable shoes with a split in the suede on the side, and velcro straps stretched almost to uselessness (The velcro barely meets on one of them.) These I'm considering getting repaired because they fit the 20-foot rule for garb.
- One pair of not-terribly comfortable and breaking-down shoes I kept at work through winter. (They'd have been comfortable one size larger, but nothing saves the breaking-down part.)
Not sure either new pair would pass muster at an event. But my feet will be happy with me.
