Land of Mist and Snow is a very good book. US Civil War sea story with magic. Not a deep surprise it's good, coming from Doyle and Macdonald, or well researched for historical details, nor with that extra tinge of realism to the naval sections, even if the technology is not what modern navy uses.
That's about as much as I have mental energy to say. All my thinking ability is being redirected to writing projects. I've figured out what I want to say on my Faerie Queen essay, but I don't know if I have enoguh to fill the required number of pages.
Which, since whenever I do think I have just enough to fill the required number of pages, I write long, might actually result in an essay the correct length.
