Buy Social Tickets!

I feel like not much has happened, becuase most of what's been happening is minor, low grade stuff that alone is not worth blogging.
- Since Colin's mom is coming into town as of, like, tomorrow, I actually had to clean my study (Also the current guest room, but the queen-sized mattresses are leaning against the wall, and I needed to make enough room for them to actually lie on the floor...) I discovered it was entirely possible to clear enough floor space to move the step machine OVER, not to have to take it apart or haul it out of the room. Wow. Next, vaccuuming, then actually doing the move and mattress prep. I was hoping to get in a session on the machine tonight before it moves, so I can still stare at whatever hoary ol' movie I'm using as amusement this time.
- I've started selling social tickets in more earnest. If anyone can think of cool prizes that A) they'd like to see (and thus will spend more on the raffle to get), or B) they'd be able to provide, I'd love to hear about either. Again, if you're on my LJ list, you're decidedly invited (Though, as I hope Cicadabug understood my skipping her fun-sounding Solstice party, I'll understand if out-of-province folk don't come).
- My wedding dress is in, but I won't be doing a proper fitting until towards the end of march. At which time, I am supposed to know what lingerie and shoes I'm wearing. Which for some reason, amuses me (As well as sending me onto a sudden fit of fretting, as I have no idea what shoes I want. I was always hoping somebody else would accessorize me).
- Invitations are in the process, though things keep delaying them a nudge more. They probably won't be ready until the end of the month, at the rate I'm going. I got a special-ordered wax stamp just for the purpose, as I didn't like the ones available form the invitation place, and it has a flaw in it. I've been debating returning it, and ultimately, I seem to have decided, yes, it's worth a bit more delay to have them as I want.
-Writing? Um, I did a little. Not much lately.
- My actual boss pissed me off today. Piece of advice. If someone's just spent a significant amount of time on your project, trying to fix a major mess-up in something outside her usual work purview... that's not the moment to crack sexist jokes about the inability of women to do things... I did walk out of the room, but since we'd just reached the point where one of the other girls would be able to help I think that action got lost in the kerfuffle. Which is good, as he's also the one who was talking to me about social related stuff, Honeymoon related stuff, etc.
- As to Honeymoon? We may be able to afford something South Pacific. Er, well, someone may be able to afford it. Details not settled or clear yet. But Colin was looking through the whole lot of locales down that way, and he didn't seem to feel he was wasting time or being wishful doing so. Also Greece, Malta and Orkney. And probably a few others while I wasn't with him. Which also means I will need a second week of holiday time, but the manager seemed to think this wouldn't be a problem. Eeek.
- And today he bought guide books for Britain. So we may end up thataway.
- The University of Manitoba's Faculty of Education only accepts resumés until Feb 1, and the woman there said that in the 5 years she's worked for them, they've never accepted a late application, becuase they always get mroe than enough good applications before deadline. However, other faculties have later deadlines or Softer late policies, and the Faculty of Education at the University of Winnipeg (Which is closer to home, and, if it matters, to work, and generally more central) apparantly takes them until March 1. So I still have to get my heinie in gear, but I'm not actually SOL yet for my delays.
- Adam and Brenna are getting married on Saturday!!!! This has been occupying a fair amount of my thoughts. It couldn't happen to a nicer couple, and I mean that in the most literal, sincere way, not the usual snarky one. These are two of the nicest people I have ever met.
That's it for now.
