I didn't think I had anything to say to this that hadn't already been said. And I don't.
But some things bear repeating.
I just spent the weekend with intelligent, concerned friends from the U.S. They set out a box for us to throw in any items we had to spare - toothpaste, soap, all that. It seems like everyone I've talked to has done something, or was asking what to do.
Every individual U.S. Citizen I've listened to, or read about -- yes, even the ones inclined to wonder why people didn't leave New Orleans under their own power, even if they were 89 or 3 years old -- have agreed this is a disaster and aid MUST reach the people, those in the ruins and those displaced into hotels and stadiums and their own cars in the surrounding states. Everyone thinks this.
Except apparently the people in charge.
