So. Progress.

May 25: Joseph starts solid foods.
June 3: We discover that if placed by furniture, Joseph can now balance standing up (before this he loved to stand but someone had to hold him at least by the hands.)
June 7-8 roughly; Joseph crawls. This is vague as it was gradual; he took enough steps to prove he *could* keep going a while before he actually did.
June 9: Joseph pulls himself to standing on his own. Since then he's started to figure out cruising, bending to pick things up, and how to get down without basically falling, but except for cruising, those aren't really separate steps so much as refinements, adn cruising he hasn't quite got down.

I'm hoping the next milestone will be him rediscovering how to sleep through the night.

Food:

Rice cereal: Joseph took to it like spoon feeding wasn't even that strange.
Egg yolk: tried only one. Not impressed. Meant to try it again mixed with some breastmilk, haven't yet.
Split pea: HATED it the first time. Hated it marginally less mixed with some milk. Within 5 tries was eating it instead of refusing it.
Oatmeal cereal: Barely seemed to notice it wasn't rice.
Wheat cereal: Not as impressed as with rice or oatmeal, but never rejected it. Might have been the thicker texture.
Whole grain brown rice cereal: likes noticeably less than the other cereals, but better than split pea.
Banana: Took to it. A bit perturbed by the lumps of my imperfect mashing but nothing he couldn't handle.
Peas: ate the first few bites with curiosity shading into disappointment, turning into disgust from there. Ah, well. We'll see what he does in a few days.

Avocado or carrot next: I predict no problems with either, as he's had a teeny taste of avocado before (since his mom eats them often) and good carrots are sweet. Oh, and egg yolk again soon after.
