First Meme, First Lines
Oct. 14th, 2005 08:22 pmWell, since all the writers seem to be doing it.
First lines of ongoing projects:
Raising the Storm: (The Selkie Novel)
The young seal raced through the current, driving a school of silver-specked fish toward his father's boat.
Disco Dracula: (This is liable to change)
When Mary came back from Mexico, her first stop was the disco.
Unnamed and somewhat stalled Novellette:
The wind drove the snow against the bare trees with an abrasive hiss, then slithered it across Marianne's hood and the bit of her cheek left exposed.
Wily (My VP Titanic story - this too is bound to change, though less for roughness than for research yet to come):
When I saw Old Nick sporting a fine cravat among the guests at dinner, I knew it wouldn't just be me this time. The whole thing was doomed.
The Labyrinth (Another novel length project, probably YA, into which I mean to insert the Evil Overlord plot generator results):
Heather had lost count of how many turnings she'd taken in this part of the maze.
The Serpent Prince (The Snow White novel whose opening was critiqued at VP):
Most men came before the High Dame of Germaine with admiration and lust. I approached her chair with contempt and scarce-veiled hatred.
