I arrived safely, after a too-long trip with admittedly few problems. I got nearly waved through customs, I had to wait over an hour for the bus, but heck, worse things could happen. Although since I didn't make it here until after 7:00 (My flight in the morning departed on time at 6:50 AM,) I ended up decidedly the last to arrive, and everyone else was sitting in the room with the supper stuff, and they all cheered at my arrival (Which is enough to make a girl want to run back out the door -- or look behind her to see if the ghost of Neil Gaiman followed her.)

Everyone seems friendly, and I like my roommates, and I've received my first one-on-one and it was relatively painless. And the ocean is lovely, and I really was not the Thing* when tested (Okay, so this means I didn't get to act out dying a horrible death.) I wasn't Mafia* when lynched either, and that's not so good, since there's no coming back.

Bad news: We haven't got a high-speed connection for our room, so I can't send an update as often as I'd like, or check my e-mail, or any replies. If nothing else cures the situation first, I might ask someone in another room to let me borrow their connection just long enough to post this so Colin knows I'm okay, I love him. (And pet my cat for me!)

Worse news: I've been given a writing assignment for which I have no idea what to do. I did write an opening (Funny kind of blank when you have a sentence or two and the devil already on the page), but well, I don't know where I'm going.

And I'm supposed to be funny. Oh, toast.

*Silly Games, taught the first and second evenings so everyone sees and knows everyone else. Maybe I'll explain the rules when I get home. Mafia needs a lot of people (over 15, preferably over 20). Thing only needs many people. (More than 10, I think, for best play. We had 13.)

Hello!

I'm glad you borrowed someone's connection :)

Your cat has been petted a little by me, but I haven't really been home much since you left. After dropping you off at the airport in the wee hours of the morning, I went back asleep. I eventually woke again, looked at the clock and thought "I'll have to leave right now to make it to church," and surprisingly I did. I chatted with a few people afterward, and then realized that I had to rush home in order to get my car and go to work (lunch = bag of nuts & assorted fruits that I ate at work). Four and a half hours were spent massaging data before I decided to go home and finish reading that book that I started on Saturday. The cats seem to be more interested in Jeff's room anyway. It's been getting a little colder, and they do tend to like his heated waterbed. I did turn on the furnace today and until I saw it again, had forgotten that your cat likes sitting on the hot air vent. It amuses me.

I'm not sure exactly when you are done Viable Paradise. I hope it has been as grand as you could hope for and when it is done you have a safe and not too inconvient trip home.

I apologize for the short notice.
Mike's description for the game he has planned for during the day on Thanksgiving Monday:
"Traveller again?
To celebrate "Serenity" (which seems to have some Traveller roots) I think it's time for a Thanksgiving Weekend Traveller one-shot.

I'm thinking maybe Night of Conquest. Something else if Brannie wants to play."

I also sent this as an email etc. as I didn't know which way was best to reach you.

Mike's LJ is where the details are [livejournal.com profile] senekal

Know you might have prior commitments or otherwise not work for you but if you and Colin can come that would be extra fun for me.
