The first part of the final episode of Shadow Unit, season one, just went live.

It's set this week. Meaning there's no clue from the presence of the livejournals what will happen or has happened. In fact, one of the characters who has an LJ missed a date on Saturday*.

And hasn't posted since.

And now I know why.

Oh, fuck.

Fiction does not leave you panting in terrified reaction. This is storytelling, pure and solid. The elusive gold of storytelling.

I kid you not.

Not the episode. The Season. If you jumped straight to Refining Fire, it wouldn't hit you in the gut. You need all the other painful, twisted, fabulous stories first.

I can't write. I could never write like that. And yes, of course, I don't want to *be* Bull or Bear, or even the creator of their writing. but right now, I don't even want to look at the dross of the Serpent Prince.

* With a real person. Shortly after photos were posted on cvillette's lj of trollcatz on a climbing wall. Even though she doesn't exist. The meta is getting META.

If it's any comfort at all, I have plenty of writers whose work I look at at and think, "Dear God, I will never write like that."

And I know Emma has a few as well. 0.0

It's not a permanent feeling, thank God. I'll be able to cope soonish.

But so far... I don't think it's physically possible for the Shadow Unit team to completely faceplant. The rest of Refining Fire could be barely up to the weakest of the weak spots and you'd still have pulled off a better finale than anything on TV.

(Blinks innotcently)

Provided you enough links to read all the really cool bits?

Advice; take it slow; you don't want to be stuck like me, partway through the last part because the rest will be posted over the next umpty-ump days...

(My list, BTW, is about to be re-edited as I am missing three intended links; two LJ entries I decided I was too sleepy to hunt down, and the WTFBBQ must have got cut off when I cut and pasted the list from one entry to the other.)

Now I've started on it!! My eyes are not thanking you as they still get very tired reading from a computer screen but this gets into the "can't put it down" category. I'm only into the second episode so far but I read the "deleted scenes" and all about the characters. I need to find the LJ's yet. I've bookmarked the home page.

Mwah-hah-haaa.

Note that my next post pretty much puts the most important stuff in one reasonable order. Because I'll bet you anything if you're looking at the surface of the web site, you've missed half or more deleted scenes.

Ah, the BBQ. Which is fun and sweet and nice... until it hits you, hard.
