We had another SCA event this weekend. Friday's archery shoot was splendid fun: for one thing, it was a day the headache was on a low ebb. The target was a long strip of poster paper with myriad food items upon it (All things that were used in the actual feast in some way). This included not only the meats and veggies, but the spices, cooking oils and flours and raw ingredients, and much else. The archers had to shoot a limited number of arrows at the food, then arrange whatever they chanved to hit into a "feast" (Meaning in this case a meal of four removes - appetizer, primary dish, main course, dessert). Things were arranged such that you could miss things, or else hit "bad" things. There were some mice, a rat, a pair of beetles, a cricket, and a black bird presumed to be crow. During the "just for fun" rounds, Robin did indeed hunt down and successfully shoot the cricket. But you could also hit unintended but passable foodstuffs if you were lucky; which is how poor Colin wound up with a meal of all meat and spinach. I came in second on the strength of my ability to combine ingredients rather than my strength of shooting. (A relatively new member, Gabriel, came in first- on a similar principle, though he did shoot better than I did.)

The event itself ended up low key. It started, for me, with a massage (It's a Roman themed event, so they had a "bath" area, where students from one of the massage therapy schools could practice. The girl who worked on me was pretty good already; she found the worst spots alright.) Then lunch, and watching the ehavy fightwers, and a medieval board game - one which I've lost thoroughly every time, though I seem to do better running on the "positional chess" principle. I paused int he kitchen a while, as much to talk to Koll and Colin as to help, though I chopped some veggie, then I got roped into dance. (Oh yeah. Twist my arm.) We were supposed to ahve boffer fighting games at one point, but it never happened, which was fine by my, as the headache was returning fast from the dead. It was easy to hold at bay in court and feast (YUM!), where I'm mainly sitting, but it came and went hard during the dance afterwards, until I stopped in spite of my feet and body having energy, because it just hurt every time there was a jump. Gifts were given and received. Much fun was had in spite of the "head go 'wong'" effect. Very laid back, not that heavily attended, especially as several out of towners could *not* make it for weather or other reasons. But basically good.

We had Brenna and Adam over afterwards for "tea" (Which it turned out only I drank, as they brought themselves a fast-food meal; they hadn't been present for feast).

Today, I quite literally spent the day doing nothing Whatsoever. I made it to church, which put me ahead of Colin, mostly because we were doing two songs I *really* like, and it seemed a shame to miss them. The rest of the day, I scraped together the energy to make some truly dead simple food, read a bit of the Dragon Waiting, because complex fiction I could handle, but not poorly-written lit-crit. I even got two loads of laundry done. But mostly, I watched Colin play his video games.

This headache has been on-again off-again for two weeks - it's never left me alone for the full day, but it's had weaker and stronger phases. At its weakest, I've almost forgotten it was there unless I did something extraordinarily stupid. At its worst, as today, too much movement makes me want to lie down, and there are dizzy spells even with care. I've had some other odd symptoms, too; not cold-like or flu-like, and not serious, but enough that I'm thinking it's time to consider seeing a doctor. Alas, my own is usually a two week wait unless it's urgent level, and I dislike the walk-in waits.
