Jan. 14th, 2007 11:19 pmProgress notes for January 13, 2007:
Soldier of the Road
Total words new or revised : 2500, not counting whole paragraphs that vanished.
Probable percentage actually new: Around 50
Reason for stopping: Seriously bad RSI, plus 2 AM.
Tea: by the time I got to the computer, just apple juice
Music: Loreena McKennit - Live In Paris and Toronto Disc 2, Mark Knopfler - the Ragpicker's Dream.
Mean Things: Scaring the bejesus out of a not very nice (even for his age) 13-year-old, a talking down by a superior officer.
There’s always one more quirk in the character: Ketan *enjoyed* terrifying the brat into obedience. He thought it was a big joke. (Although he's trying like hell not to admit it.)
Inevitable Asides:
No writing today.
ALso did archery yesterday. Score sucky, but then, I now have a thumbring that fits my thumb, not my glove, so now I'm shooting as I really ought to be. Of course, it means the second equipment change in the last half-year, too. Alas, I think that contributed to the elbow part of the RSI (It's usually helpful to neutral for my wrist, but it's caused elbow twinges before.) Anyhow, that flared into danger level last night, and got worse by morning; I can only presume I also slept wrong on it.
Add to that waking with an inexplicable monster headache that also gave me some fun lightheaded moments, and I spent the day watching Corner Gas and reading. The RSI eased off, especially after a muscle relaxant (Taken more because we had no standard painkillers in the house than because I thought it the ideal choice... we bought painkillers, though) Or I'd have been off the computer as soon as I sent the one e-mail I had to send. Still feelign it, though, so I'll stop typing now.
I mean to put forward at least mini-reviews of Carnival and Old Man's War, and possibly of a pair of other books of rather typical fantasy fare. Maybe even for the plays I've been reading.
Just FYI for those who live elsewhere: Currently it's past -30 Celsius. - 34 tonight, but it was still in the range of "bloody miserable" all day. Every day since Wednesday. This isn't quite as bad as -30 would be in faranheit, but remember, the two temperatures converge at -40. Wheee. Indoors with cats and tea and good books.
