2010 BASICS
Age you turned: 34
Did you grow?: Not noticeably to myself, but I suspect yes.
School/Work: No school. My steady but only part time job ended in December 2009, so i spent the first bit of 2010 worrying, but soon ended up working a full time job that was supposed to go to June. Instead, it went to March. I spent the summer in one part-time stint via the temp agency, and occasional other days. The autumn came up with a few more temporary but full-time weeks, and it ended with a three month contract which will end January 2011. In the fall, I also dropped many more resumes, got four interviews (five if you count one via the temp agency), but no nibbles. More will be sent out in January.
IM Screen name(s): This assumes I IM.
Best birthday gift: Honestly, at this point, i don't always remember what I got in June/July and what i got last Christmas. Embarrassing, but true. The one I made the most point of asking for was the special pledge version of Jim Moray's In Modern history, which includes a bonus DVD, and twelve songs, theoretically once per month (But so far actually working out to one every 2-3 months - he's made it clear he will fulfill all 12 one way or another, just not on the original schedule)
Best Christmas gift: The Octave Mandolin was about a third paid for as a Christmas gift and the rest (plus tax and new strings) paid for myself, so it's kind of in a funny place. As for explicit Christmas gifts, Colin got me a USB turntable, which will probably become the favourite once it's set up and I start getting new access to the whole vinyl collection I've been missing.
Most important thing you learned: No two disasters, even of the same kind, are alike.
Did your physical appearance change?: I cut my hair, and for a while it was purple (The purple dye faded to a rather nice red, and is now red-brown, and not too blatantly different from the roots)
Did you personally change?: Hmm.
Best month(s): Probably July and Early August, with the Folk Fest, the Fringe, and the travelling over mountains visiting family.
Worst month(s): March. The only other months in the whole of my life that even remotely compete are July 2009, February 2002, and November 2001.
PEOPLE
Best friend(s): Many. The list begins with my husband and my brother.
New friend(s): Olaghair and Fausta. Nathaniel and Paul aren't new friends per se (Though they were more Colin's friends than mine), but we got closer this year.
Lose any friends?: I have seen much less of some friends than they deserve, so they might be considered lost in that I never remember to try their phone numbers or e-mails.
Lose any family members?: No. Though we've been worried about the health of at least one of my grandmothers.
Any new family members?: Not quite, but it seems like it, as the newest baby was a December 2009 child.
Most influential person(s): Colin. Without him, March would have been worse.
LOVE/RELATIONSHIPS
Have any crushes?: Yes.
Status at the beginning of the year: married happily to an understanding person.
Status now: ibid.
Have any regrets?: No.
SPORTS/ACTIVITIES
Sports played/joined: I did some tai chi with mom, plus of course and naturally archery. I did more SCA dance than some years recently.
Clubs joined: No new ones joined. Consistent with SCA and choir.
Other activities (arts, drama, music, etc): Did a bit more illumination painting. Three tons of writing.
Quit/drop any sports?: No.
Quit/drop any clubs?:
Any sports, clubs, or activities you wish you joined?: I'd really like to get back into fencing, but Marcus's classes are Thursday.
Wish you quit any?: No; though I'll be going to fewer choir practices, I'm determined not to lose that one
FUN STUFF
Did you party?: yes - we hosted the Twelfth Night post-revel, I went clubbing for my birthday, I danced like a crazy person for Folk fest and the Oysterband concert, and we were semi-regularly inviting/invited to various types of quieter get togethers, that involved being social and/or playing board games/and or other forms of fun.
Did you throw any parties?: See the last answer. yes.
Vacations: Long trip to BC and Alberta. Folk Fest.
Best winter event: Probably last year's New Years cabin trip. Though in retrospective, there were some signs of trouble to come for some of the participants.
Best spring event: Possibly Keycon. It's usually okay but not great, and I was only there for one day, but the presence of extra professionals in the writing community did make a difference.
Best summer event: Folk Fest.
Best autumn event: Gimli.
Ever sneak out?: Why would I need to sneak?
Get in any fights?: Minor verbal grumps. No fights, verbal or physical.
Any "firsts"? (first time trying things, going places, etc): First time travelling the BC mountains.
MORE
1) Where did you begin 2010? In the cabin with friends, having fun and feeling good.
2) What was your status by Valentine's Day? Looking forward, albeit with some apprehension.
3) Were you in school (anytime this year)? Nope.
4) How did you earn your money? Colin mostly kept us in electricity and food, but I did work as above.
5) Did you have to go to the hospital? Yes. March.
6) Did you have any encounters with the police? No.
7) What did you purchase that was over $1,000? I don't think I did. Colin bought some home entertainment stuff that probably came to that at least, but not all at once.
8) Did you know anybody who got married?
vilashna and her husband. weird that it's only one couple; since 2006, it's been averaging 2-3.
9) Did you know anybody who passed away? Um. That's trickier than it sounds. Not quite.
(I know a number of people who lost dear ones, but most of the time, I hadn't met the dear one. Though that's not what I meant, either, it should be acknowledged.)
10) Did/Do you like someone? I *like* a whole lot of people. "Like" to me implies nothing but like, not even crush.
11) Did you move anywhere? No.
12) Are you registered to vote? yes. And I *tried* to get rid of Sam Katz....
13) What's one thing you thought you'd never do but did in 2010? There's nothing I thought I'd never do that happened this year. There's one thing I hoped I'd never do again (and still hope that), and some things (sending stories and queries out) that I thought it had been too bloody long since I'd last done.
14) What has been your favorite moment? That would be the acceptance from ideomancer, closely followed by the request for a partial.
15) How much have you partied? In the classic sense of drunk and/or dancing and/or bar, not that much. Pity; I like dancing. I'd even do Karaoke if the last invite hadn't been a work night.
17) Favorite night out? Probably some part of folk fest -- around the fire at Baggiecon.
18) Name the instance in which you had the most to drink: Not sure. September event might have a good run. But even at June, where Abacchus got drunk, I was more restrained. But I didn't get close to getting drunk.
19) Are you in a relationship with someone you met this year? Friendships yes. Otherwise, no.
