And oldie but a goodie. (And yes, the point is partly a mockery of those 100 must-read book collections that are all men except one token woman, and even the token choice in this is pointed for certain super-reactionary Quarters)
bolding ones I've read, and italicizing ones where I've read other things by that author. Unless otherwise noted, yes, I liked what I read. Starring things where I've heard good stuff. And invariably I won't be able to resist some bracketed asides.

Primary Inversion by Catherine Asaro *
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Range of Ghosts by Elizabeth Bear
Flesh and Spirit by Carol Berg

Black Sun Rising by C.S. Friedman
Slow River by Nicola Griffith
Dragonsbane by Barbara Hambly
Fly by Night by Frances Hardinge*
Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb (I read the trilogy that follows this one, and it convinced me I had no interest in reading the backstory trilogy even though I enjoyed that one.)

The Steerswoman by Rosemary Kirstein*
Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress*
Deryni Rising by Katherine Kurtz (I may have read it when it was new, and I read the Camber books. I borrowed it off a friend recently because people seemed to still like it. I gave up halfway. This book has not aged well, let us say.)
