The only thing really to say on the news front is that I did get to meet forodwaith yesterday. Interesting  -- not the dreaded Chinese curse interesting, or the trying to be tactful interesting, but the way it always is meeting an online acquaintance for the first time in person. She was about the right age once I looked close, but my first impression was someone more youthful and vivid than I expected. That probably doesn't sound quite as I meant it, hopefully she'll forgive me the description.

 

 

A - Accent: Prairie Canadian, but I've been told I have a bit of British burr in there, sometimes. Maybe it's because I sometimes over-enunciate to make up for the other verbal stutters, one person said it's what he gets told for no other reason than having a good vocabulary. Or maybe just watching too much of the wrong tv as a kid.
B - Breakfast Item: Trail Bar
C - Chore you hate: hand-washing dishes.
D - Dad's Name: George
E - Essential everyday item: backpack
F - Flavor of Ice cream: cookie dough
G - Gold or Silver?: Silver

K - Kids: No, and ambivalent about changing that  (Which is not necessarily the same as against the idea)

O - Overnight hospital stays: Not that I recall this moment.
P - Phobia: roaches, large spiders (realistically large. 8-foot movie monsters less bad than tarantulas)

S - Siblings: One older brother. Besides that, a Stepbrother I don't see often, a kind of "sister", and maybe a little brother (IE, <lj user="big_hairy_viking">, if I saw you once in a while, I might not put the maybe in...)
T - Time you wake up: Um. At 7:00 I stagger downstairs, feed the cats, go back to bed. Then I wake up again at whatever time I need to be up for whatever I'm doing that day - range is from 8:00 to Noon.
U - Unnatural hair colors you've worn: None.
V - Vegetable you refuse to eat: Brussels Sprouts
W - Worst habit: Running slightly late for everything.
X - X-rays you've had: dental and one foot.

Y - Yummy: most desserts with the word cappucino in them. Fresh strawberries. Johnny Depp.

Officially, this is only supposed to be "Bold the ones you've read," but as ever, i felt the need for other conditionals thrown in. Yes or no questions? Like Charlie Petit, my eternal answer shall be "It depends."

A lot of this fits what I expected. I was late coming to Science Fiction (I think I've read more of it in the last 6 years than in all the time preceding), and when i did, it was mostly by relatively current works, so my knowledge of the genre "classics" is embarrassingly shaky.
