It's Amazing the Things We Know That Are Actually Wrong
(also a good explanation why attempting to find a way to add another female character isn't trivial. Because it needs to be someone natural to the setting, and when the *setting* contains assumptions that contraindicate their presence ... well, it also means there's something wrong with my brain and what I think I know, but mostly it means such a person would stand out as not natural.)
