The Serpent Prince
Aug. 13th, 2010 04:06 amWe have a draft!
The Serpent Prince is complete at 116,000 words.
But I was letting myself run long in the last sections, with the mantra "Edit later. Draft now."
Today's word count comes in at 7375 words, though 1400 of those already existed in the form of a scene I had to write for James D. Macdonald for Viable Paradise. They only got polished and edited a bit, strictly to fit them with mildly altered circumstances. So my character has managed to break a country, dive off a waterfall, and end the book at a place that I hope people won't strangle me for leaving book one, since there is an arc of sorts resolved. Somewhere.
Yesterday's was a more modest 2300, because I only wanted to plough through one major plot point I'd figured out how to deal with.
During the trip From July 21 to August 9, I wrote considerably less on this project; 9000 words through the whole thing. However, that's because I took a break when I hit the major plot point mentioned above, which I wasn't sure how to resolve.
I also managed 8k on a whole new project that started as a frivolous if rather kinky PWP and seems determined to grow a plot instead, 800 words on Soldier of the Road, and 900 words on one of the Armageddon stories.
Next project plans seem to be pointing at Labyrinth, and one additional scene of the not-a-PWP to prove there really is a plot in there. Though *I* don't know what most of it is.
But right Now, BED!
______________
I have a partly finished post on the trip itself, BTW, It will probably get posted Saturday> Short version: Great trip, met up with and caught up with lots of family and friends, would have been better without the vehicular difficulties.
