Wow. Busy.

This last week netted me another 12K words, even though Friday was a complete and utter collapse day. Writing wise, I'd landed my PoV character in jail somehow in one of those "That wasn't in my planned outline!" moments, mostly because of the dual rules: "The villain isn't a villain", and "the Villain is competent". So I had to figure out how he could actually protag from inside a cell, and Friday I was simply not physically, mentally or emotionally up to anything as strenuous as typing one word after another. Saturday, I just bit the bullet and went ahead with the scene of his questioning. Which left me enough new plot bunnies that by Sunday morning, they were hatching and I knew how to get to my intended end point from there; and the words poured out.

The week otherwise included:

- The aforementioned ear infection (Still going; I just got new, stronger antibiotics.)
- Even more ripping up of the main floor flooring, and also a great deal more of packing and hauling things upstairs from said main floor. (Ongoing. Well, now they're starting to put new subflooring in). Somehow made worse by the number of days I was out and about and unable to help, either for helping at the church's soup kitchen, meeting friends, or in the case of Friday, flat out turning tail and running to the archery range.
- Continuing to have a house full of people - again, I like my in-laws, but my inherent introversion and my self-induced best-behaviour expectations makes the loss of private space difficult. Combined with the literal loss of half the main floor as useable space just adds to it. Even as I remind myself we NEEDED new flooring (And by need, I mean need) and this is long-term a good thing.
- my mother's birthday (Monday)
- Hanging out with a friend, which turned into a rather long and complex discussion of his personal difficulties and of clinical depression. (Tuesday)
- a very nice haircut and a pleasant evening out with friends.(Tuesday)
- my husband's birthday (Wednesday)
- my wedding anniversary (Thursday) - and most of an evening alone together. YAY!
- a friend's complete and utter emotional breakdown. (Late Thursday night)
- A day with almost no sleep, probable food poisoning (Could have been stress induced), and complete emotional and mental uselessness. The one thing I accomplished on Friday was archery practice, and mostly because it was a chance to get away from ALL OF THE ABOVE stressors.)
- A very nice Saturday of pulling up boards (When i actually was available to help, wanted to help, and needed the physical exertion or tearing things apart, I really was enjoying it; though I stopped earlier than I normally would due to still feeling slightly off physically) and helping out followed by a good birthday dinner for mom and Colin, then an evening with mom and Jeff playing a board game and watching Wall-E (Which mom hadn't seen).
- A pleasant Sunday of our church's final service with the choir before our summer break, writing like a maniac, walking to a friend's to dye my hair purple, and writing a bit more.

- yes, I said dye my hair purple. More accurately, darker brown with purple and red highlights. It looks purple in full sun, but under fluorescent lighting in a professional environment (Where I will be Friday), it should be within bounds. (It's also one that will wash out in a handful of weeks, making me more sure it was worth the risk. But I like it.)
