Real world: Bit of a strange week. I had a curfuffle with my manager over a problem that turned out to be almost entirely not my fault but was still unpleasant as all get out, as his first reaction ahd been to shout, threaten my job, snarl, cut me off, and to not even give me a chance to tell him my side of the story before he slammed down the phone. Some of which he did apologize for.
And one of our drivers has had a combination of bad break-up and trouble with her handheld order/invoice device that has resulted in chaos on her route and in her life. I do wish her well, and I feel very badly for how she's been hurting, but I do have a selfish wish that it hadn't all caused extra chaos in my job...
I had a test run on my hairstyle for my wedding, which pretty much comes out to pinned up then put in a billion curls. (Thirty-six bobby pins and a hair elastic. I counted before my shower). Looked nice, though, and a vast contrast to usually untied, usually dead straight long hair. OTOH, Brannie's hair gor a few "Oh God"'s out of the hairdresser, who had to try to figure out how to pin up and ringlet all of *that* (it only falls to her thighs...)
Other than that, it's almost been a quiet week for wedding plans. We did my brother's birthday dinner yesterday, which was nice but a bit scattered, as one girl (My bridesmaid, actually) had only meant to stop for socializing and a beer then leave, and several people were so late they missed her entirely. In Colin's case it was only half his fault - he did forget about the dinner, and he did fail to call me to see if I needed a ride (Which I would ahve preferred over scrambling for a bus and hoping, evne if I did end up on time.) and he even went off and ran an errand meantime -- however, my wise brother also failed to even send Colin the e-mail mentioning exact time and location, since, of course, I'd tell Colin. (Never mind that, since he'd sent all prior e-mails to both of us, I reasonably assumed Colin got it, and didn't check the list of names...) By the time he arrived, all annoyance was gone in the "just glad you made it" ness.
And, besides, he paid for my dinner, so I could order the lamb. MMM. Lamb.

Writing. A good week, if not a great one, for word counts.
One of my characters has pointed out that in the last few chapters, I have put him through roughly 6 different kinds of trauma, the least of which are the kind that would ruin any day, the worst of which... were worse. And his one chance to rest emotionally involved doing hard labour (he got drafted into building someone else's house). And he's been ordered, firmly, to keep acting like an ambassador, dammit. He's still going, but he's been asking me more and more "When will this end? Can I please just have a few days off?"
So, being a proper author, I gave him his wish. He can sleep, or rest, or cry his eyes out, or brood. He's got days of time to just sit and do nothing.
Of course, I did it by throwing him in prison, pending execution.
Still, honestly, I'm not *that* mean. I had no idea his brother would stab him first. That was entirely a moment when the brother said, "Hold it," and acted without my permission.
Not that I'll edit it out.
