In case anyone is wondering: yes, I do have a lot of spare time at work. I can't write fiction here, though I have written notes about stories or done bits of research.
I already wrote up and submitted a proposal for the best way to cut hours off my job that might fairly balance the time I'm legitimately needed and the amount of money I need to make to pay bills, etc. Actually, my proposal included several different options of different levels of reasonableness, but it did also point out which was probably the best all around by far.
The managers are considering it. The good thing about being in a small and relatively casual office is that this is possible. The other good thing is they know how good I am at the work, when the work is present.
The bad thing is, they sometimes take their time deciding on these things. Ah well. Patience is supposed to be a virtue.
