It's a story about a guy, period, until book four. I don't mind that; I like Ketan and Theo, even if I think they're teenaged idiots :) . But there's ways to make it a story about a guy where women still have agency and respect (An extreme example would be A Companion to Wolves, which is a feminist book partly because of the het male protagonist and lack of human females, though these books aren't going that far); book one I think succeeds.
Some of it is doomed by the source material; Snow White lies around for a good while needing rescue, and there's no escaping it. (The ballad that makes another subplot is worse, as that female only gets to act on anyone's behalf when she's dead.)
As I told Sherwood, I don't plan on trying to fix it right now, but I find it never hurts to think it through a bit before I get to the revisions. It makes it easier to spot opportunities.
