I have been writing it all and worrying later. In the case of writing extra and cutting, that's more commentary on technique than it is "worry" as such. I do and will just write it all out. It's too much fun.
In the case of gender relations & all, though, I sometimes think it's worth looking at. I've had several characters in the past gain depth by changing gender, or even just by speculating whether I should. There are also ways to give women more agency without actually making them take over.
It's not something I plan to rewrite this moment, but considering it before I go into revisions tends to mean I'm looking for it when I do the rewrite. Also, trying things like playing with the opening POV helped at least keep me writing, even if they seemed ultimately to be "waste" words.
