Jun. 4th, 2009 12:37 amThe wheel was got into the basement by Colin and his friend CQ. I napped through a lot of the clean-up work (I never nap. That was weird) that preceded it, and the moving itself there was no way for a third person to help.
The reason it got done today in particular is because tomorrow, Colin's bringing home a piano his boss gave him (Long story...). He also displaced the freezer to help fit it from the back door, through the kitchen, and into the dining room.
Once, long, long ago (I think at the beginning of 2008) I sent a partial of the Raising the Storm MS to Patrick Nielsen Hayden at Tor Books (Rather than to the acquisitions editor, as is proper procedure, but I had a reason.) He hasn't answered. I considered querying, knowing he's reasonably approachable, but... Tor's own guidelines say after six months, resubmit, and Do Not ask about Submission status.
So instead I went through and started to update the long-out-of-date list I have of good agencies. I have five to e-mail once I'm sure my query letter is up to it, each of course with fractionally different guidelines. And two to mail who are good enough to be worth mailing. And 10 more which I haven't had time to re-research, but which my old info suggests are still fine choices.
Time to panic.
